| This paper looks at how rapid changes in telecommunications technology and regulation provide corporate management with new opportunities and challenges. More specifically it looks at a particular company, SBC, and how it has felt the brunt of poor planning and unsound management practices in its effort to pioneer the high-speed Internet services industry with DSL. Ultimately it concludes that unless action is taken, SBC will likely see its market share significantly diminish and soon find itself out of the DSL business altogether.
